Dia de los Muertos Open Call

Visual 2D/3D Art or Altar

July 7th - August 15TH 2025

 

Rules for Visual Art:  

  • Must be created by your hands
  • No Size limitation 
  • Entries for sale or not for sale 
  • Media: works in all media may be entered. 
  • Artists with works requiring assembly may be asked to assist in installation if accepted.
  • Submit up to 4 pieces by clicking register below.

Rules for Altars:  

  • Submit proposal for altars/ofrendas through e-mail director@ecartists.com 
    • Proposals need to have a plan for set up and concept.
  • Limited Altar spaces, altars will be selected from proposed plans. 
  • Up to 1 submission
  • Providing your own table is preferred, but not required. 
  • Use of wall available. 

The MCAC and Curators reserve the right to reject or remove any entry that does not meet the entry requirements or is deemed not to be in the best interest of the Show or the policies of the Multicultural Arts Center and Merced County Arts Council.

Artists will be notified by August 8th through e-mail if entries have been accepted.


Show Dates:   SEPTEMBER 3RD — NOVEMBER 16TH 

Last Day to enter:             AUGUST 15th, 2025

Notification of acceptance:  AUGUST 16th, 2025

Deliver Entries:    AUGUST 16th—22nd, 2025

                                        M-T 9:30am-2:30pm, 

W 9:30am-8:30pm

Pick-up:           NOVEMBER 17TH — 21ST, 2025

All entries MUST be submitted and paid via :  

https://client.smarterentry.com/artsmerced 

If you have difficulty submitting your work with the on-line system, please e-mail director@ecartists.com  or director@artsmerced.org

All entry materials (images and fees) must be received within the SmarterEntry.com system by 12:00AM midnight on AUGUST 1ST, 2025. 

 

ENTRY FEES & CONDITIONS: 

  •  $15 per 4 
  • Limit of (4) pieces per artist
  • Entries must be ready to hang or display 

* artwork not ready to hang will not be accepted *

(If your pieces need specific backing to hang, artist must provide materials example: including Command Strip Velcro, or specific pins needed to secure piece for hanging)

*artwork without appropriate hardware will not be accepted*

  • Pastel/charcoal entries must be under plexiglass or glass
  • Artwork may NOT be removed until after CLOSE of SHOW (Nov. 17th—Nov.19th).
     

SALES:

A 20% commission will be charged for all sales made during or as a result of the show.  Art does not have to be for sale. 

LIABILITIES:

The borrower (hereafter referred to as “Merced County Arts Council” or “MCAC”) will exercise the same care for the loaned objects as is used with loaned objects of its own. The lender (hereafter referred to as “artist”) certifies that the condition of the loaned objects as stated in the Specifics of Work is accurate and that the loaned objects will withstand the ordinary strains of packing, transportation, and handling. It is understood by all parties that all loaned objects are subject to gradual inherent deterioration for which neither party is responsible. Evidence of damage at the time of receipt or while in custody of MCAC, will be reported immediately to the artist. No alteration or repair will be undertaken without authorization of the artist.
